a few FAQ's for ya!

Vita Luna has been opened for a little over a year now and we think it's about time to publicly answer a few FAQ's (a.k.a. frequently asked questions) about our biz. So here we go...


1. Where does the name come from/ How do you say it?

"Vita Luna"(vee-tah loo-na) is a Latin phrase that in English translates to "This crazy life" or "Live crazy" depending on the sentence it is used in. Its a phrase that the Owner of VL heard it years ago and for some reason or another it has always stuck with her. So when this boutique was born it was clear to her and everyone else what it would be called, Vita Luna.

2. Where are you located?

You can find us in Dothan, Alabama on the circle right behind Atlanta Bread Company in Colony Square Plaza in between Mama Rosa's and Pinky Nails! If you ever need further directions feel free to call us @ 334.446.1307, we would be glad to help you! We are open Tuesday - Saturday 10am-6pm!

3. Why are you closed on Monday's?
To give us a business day to organize, clean, and restock dear Vita Luna after you awesome ladies wipe us out the previous week. Also it is our day to bounce ideas and make improvements to give you the best VL we can possible be. So don't worry, even though we are closed to the public on Monday's we are secretly working around the clock inside all for you, are fab customer!

4. Where do the clothes come from?

Whether we travel the world or surf the net we are always on the hunt for fab threads far and wide, but our main places we hall our loot from would be New Orleans, Atlanta, Los Angeles, and New York.

5. "Is this a dress or a shirt?"

Jeez Louise, we get this one a lot! Our answer to the age old question of "dress or shirt?" is simple, it is whatever you want it to be! Each top, dress, pant, etc fits each person differently so a shirt to one will be a dress to the other. Basically, what ever you feel confident and fabulous in is exactly the way it should be worn!

6. Why are your prices so low?

That's an easy one! We pride ourselves in making our product fashionable yet extremely affordable. Our prices average about $30 - $40 bucks but we have had things as low as $16! We don't make huge mark-ups on our inventory because we would rather sell a $20 dress to 200 people then a $200 dress to 20 people...that's the way we have always been and always will be.

7. What kind of clothes/sizes do you carry?

We carry a wide spectrum of precious clothes in hopes that everyone, no matter age, pant size, race, or financial status can shop with us! We have always carried junior/women sizes(XS-XL) but we started carrying plus size last January and have had nothing but positive feedback so we are ecstatic to say our sizes range from XS- 3X and everything in between!

8. What form of payments do you accept?
We joke and say "We accept everything except for I.O.U's!" but really we do! All major credit cards, debit cards, personal checks, and of course cash!

9. Have any special discounts available?

As a matter of fact we do! We always give 15% to our Military (must show ID), 15% to our birthday girls (must show ID), and have our oh so popular 10% FB Friday discount (must like our FB page to know how and when to use it). On top of our fab discounts we have frequent sales, so its super easy to always save a few extra dollars with us!

10. I don't live near Vita Luna, how do I order? Do you ship?

Easy peasy lemon squeezy! You can order straight through our facebook and we ship to anywhere in the USA for only $5! If you ever see anything you are just DYING to have feel free to call us @ 334.446.1307, email us @ vitalunaboutique@yahoo.com, or personal message us via FB to place a order, we would be glad to help you!

swoon in june!

Here are a few TRENDS OF JUNE THAT MAKE US SWOON:


1. ARM CANDY

This is by far the HOTTEST trend of June(and one of our personal fave's)! It's a pretty simple concept, 1st you start with one bracelet then you add another then another and so on and so forth then TA-DA your arm is covered in fabulous-ness which we like to call arm candy ;) whether its a big bulky watch paired with dainty little bangles and charms or a chunky wrap mixed and mingled with bling, the motto of this trend is definitely the more the merrier!


2. HIGH WAISTED SHORTS

No summer wardrobe is complete without a pair of these bad boys! High waisted shorts are the new daisy duke! They are perfect for the hotter months with their flowy baggy fit and they work miracles on hiding all the "unwanted" parts of the body! If your brave pair them with a sassy bandeau(see next trend) or to be more on the safe side pair them with a flowy top and just tuck in the middle! However, wherever, and with whoever your wear this trend you are sure to feel fab and unstoppable with the power of high waisted shorts!


3. BANDEAU TOPS

We just can't get enough of these sassy little things! Bandeau tops are ruling the world right now! The main reason for their popularity is good old fashion female's urge to show a little skin without looking like a floozy! Well these babies do the trick especially if your pair them with the correct bottoms. Let's take this picture as a example: the model is wearing a large bandeau top and pairs it with a high waisted pencil skirt for just a hint of skin while covering up a majority with the skirt and for that this look gets a A++ in our book. So pair your bandeau tops with caution then rock the heck out of this trend! You are sure to be the sassiest senorita on the block ;)


4. NEONS

This trend is so bright we have to wear shades. Everywhere you turn you are sure to see some form of neon. We are obsessed over this trend for a few reasons. #1- they bright colors look fabulous on everybody #2-they make you stand out in a crowd #3-they look beyond presh paired together(as pictured)..so what are you waiting for?!? go find you some fab neon pieces to rock this summer, you know you wanna ;)


5. SPIKES & STUDS

Last but certainly not least our most dangerous pick of the bunch, spikes&studs. It's so edgy its almost scary, but put your fear aside and get ready to embrace this fierce trend. It comes in many different forms: heels, flats, shorts, bracelets, etc...So channel your inner gaga and rock this bad A trend!

the healthy fear.

Never fear! Everybody has fear! Your not the only one. But what if I told you fear, in small doses, is healthy? Not the "Horror Movie, Freddy Kruger" kinda fear but the "I don't know what I'll do after I graduate" kind...the real kind. That type of fear is important because it generates greatness, greatness people didn't even know they have until they decide to conquer their fears and find out! I can promise you that anybody who is anybody who did ANYTHING remotely amazing had a healthy dose of fear before they did what they where about to do...still following me? Grab what ever you are fearful of (college,  jobs, etc.) by the horns and as corny as it sounds, face it & defeat it so you can be the best person you can possibly be! Its true, you have to work a little for happiness but since everybody knows happy girls are the prettiest its definitely a job well worth it ;)

5 SPRING THANGS WE ARE CRUSHIN' ON.

Spring has officially sprung and we are officially obsessing over all the gorg Spring 2012 trends. So as it is our duty to keep you fashionable ladies informed about whats in and whats hot we picked 5 of our absolute favs to share with you. So here they are, please take time to soak up the fabulousness ;)

 #1 TREND WE CANT GET ENOUGH OF: COLOR BLOCKING

Lovers of bright bold colors REJOICE! Color blocking is ALL about pairing bright bold colors together with more bright bold colors. For example take a bright coral pencil-ish skirt and pair it with a bold turquoise over sized top..TA-DA you are officially color block fabulous! At first you might be a little timid to mix and match all of the colors together but once you cant the hang of it you will want to rock this trend everyday all day. Take a risk and color block your heart out!

 #2 TREND WE CANT GET ENOUGH OF: PEPLUM HEMS

By websters definition peplum means "A short flared, gathered, or pleated strip of fabric attached at the waist of a woman's jacket, dress, skirt or blouse." by our definition it means "a outrageously fabulous spring trend"! The main purpose of the peplum look is to give a what would be simple,classic dress or skirt that oh so needed flare of funky-ness. Not only does it jazz up a boring frock it also looks wonderful on so many body types! Try this fun trend for yourself, I promise you wont be disappointed!

 #3 TREND WE CANT GET ENOUGH OF: STATEMENT EARRINGS

How can you not be obsessed over this trend?!? No matter what age, what dress size, or what height you will always be able to pull off this extremely fab trend! We are loving the bold colored statement earrings they go oh so perfectly with a classic LBD giving that extra sass to a simple outfit. The bigger the better...you cant go wrong with this one ;)

 #4 TREND WE CANT GET ENOUGH OF: PASTELS

Easter is right around the corner so this trend is right on time. No matter if you use pastels on your nails or choose pastel pumps you are sure to look feminine and presh. From pale yellow to baby pink to our personal fave mint you have a wide range of choices to rock this trend so channel your inner easter egg and embrace the pastels. You'll be happy you did!

 #5 TREND WE CANT GET ENOUGH OF: COLORED SKINNIES

We are head over heels obsessed with this one..and if you look around so is the whole world! You can choose a bright pair or a faded pair, either way you will be the envy of all of your friends when you rock this beyond yummy trend! You can color block it with a bright top or let the pants do all the talkin' with pairing it with a solid top. What are you waiting for?! Go get you some colored skinnies girl!

Sundays are precious to a hard working gal such as myself. Its a free second to breathe & collect my thoughts from the week past. But do you know what I think about when I try to relax?! YOU. I sit on my couch and think "I need to find so and so a cute dress to wear to that party she was talking about" or "I hope whatshername like such and such in this color"....like it or not you ladies are burned into my brain. When you see a cute top/dress/anything pop up in my store I hope you know I purchased it with you in mind, so you(my ah-mazing customer) could have something new & fab to wear. I mean lets be honest everyone likes to feel good about what their wearing, nobody thinks "Gee, I hope nobody notices me or compliments my outfit tonight"! So in hopes we can make sure that never happens we are headed to boutique owners heaven (a.k.a market) this weekend and rest assured while we are there I will be thinking about you and all your fashionable needs. "un-skinny" is beautiful too.

This picture came across my news feed the other day and it definitely made me smile. When exactly did the top pictures become more appealing then the bottom ones?!?! When did it become socially acceptable to condemn someone for being voluptuous?!?! Don't take it the wrong way..there is nothing wrong with being skinny! All I'm saying is when,where,why & who said it was wrong to be "un-skinny".

 For the short amount of time VL's been open we have taken pride in catering to every body size because everybody deserves to look fabulous in fabulous clothes and not everyone fits in a Small and that is a-ok.

 rock those curves, rock those A-cups, rock everything that makes you..YOU! you my darlin' are b-e-a-uuutiful, don't you ever forget it ;)

five 2012 trends we're obsessing over.

1. THE COLOR MINT.

1st trend of 2012 we are dying over. one word: MINT. It reminds us of ice cream & the sea (not together of course). Its creamy dreamy color is so beautiful but with that touch of unusual-ness that makes our heart beat! So whether its more on the mint green side or a tad more mint blue you cant go wrong with this aw worthy trend for spring!

2. FUNKY/FABULOUS STATEMENT PIECES

When we say funky/fabulous statement pieces we mean that when you see said piece on somebody else you just wanna scream "WHERE DID YOU GET THAT FROM?!?!". Best part about this amazing trend is you don't look too busy and/or loony..it is the perfect balance of simple meets loud. You can make the piece a POP of bright skirt with a solid top(as shown) or groovy patterned tights with a simple dress or even a BURST of colors & prints top with some solid jeggings...any way you do it you are sure to feel fabulous and turn some major heads!

3.NECK TIE BLOUSES

These beautiful tops are DOMINATING the fashion industry one neck bow at a time. Not only do they make you feel like a powerful woman they are extra flattering and oh so attractive on. We love the version pictured very office attire meets la fashion week...but you can also go on the daring side choosing bold vibrant colors like bright reds and emerald greens! so go throw on a neck tie blouse and rule the world ladies!

4.UNIQUE SLEEVES

this wildly popular trend for 2012 pleases my fashion lovin' soul in every way! nothing says "fabulous" like a simple dress or top with the ultimate pizazz of a unique sleeve..it can be bejeweled (as pictured) or covered with ruffles but no matter what form you find you love take a risk and rock this trend!

5.ANIMAL PRINTS

last but certainly not least is one of our personal faves, animal prints. they come and all shapes,colors and variations of prints but needless to say they are one of the easiest glamorous looks to pull of! find you a good cheetah print blouse or a great python print skirt and wear it with pride...cause girl you know you look good in it.
